Sunrise in San Jose
Remember quarantine? The early days of stay at home, nothing to do? I do. I’d stay up until 3 or so watching Community, and thinking “Damn, this really is on the nose.” I ended up realizing that the sun rose only a couple hours after I went to sleep, so I stayed up all night a few times and went out real early to capture the sunrise. These are some of the images from that project.

Good fuckin' morning
You ever remember summer mornings? Waking up, the not-quite-cold air hitting you as you go off to enjoy your day to the fullest (or at least sit inside in a cold room with AC on)? For some reason I just thought, at 3 AM, that today would be a damn good morning to go out and shoot the sunrise. 3 hours to go, I chugged some Coke for that sweet caffeine, and then, at about 5 in the morning I rode my bike to the Los Gatos perc ponds, savoring that sweet smelling not-quite-cold air the whole way. It reminded me of when I was a kid, when I could just live, when around now, I’d be out of school for the summer and ready to sleep till noon, and still jump every time I heard a bell. Those were the days, man. I miss that. Though, having a car’s nice too. Point being, this, for some reason, really reminded me of some times long ago.

Save Ferris
The bike ride there was fun. It’s the same route I ride whenever I go to Vasona, but riding it at 5 in the morning was… different. Just enough light to see, but still dark out. The porch lights of people’s houses still on. The cars parked in the driveway. It was like the times when I’d go out night shooting, and skate through neighborhoods. Everything seemed so peaceful, so calm. It was nice. I love moments like that. As one of my personal heroes said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Sky
I like the sky in this one. That one cloud streak across the sky, the light barely cracking over the horizon, it’s just so nice.

Sky fan?
The pink reflection in the cloud is something that just caught my eye. I’ve got to say, that wide-angle lens hurt my wallet something fierce, but it’s made up for it in droves. I can capture so much that I never could before.

I thought the chain fence nearby was too edgy and dark for a sunrise, so here’s some flowers to brighten it up.
