Gear

My gear, past and present.

My main camera

This is my Sony a6000. It’s the first camera I bought, it’s my main camera, and will be until something catastrophically breaks. I’ve got 10-18, 16-50, and 55-210 lenses for it.

My drone

I’ve been using this for a lot of stuff. Picked it up in like 2018 before a camping trip and got hooked. I fly it pretty much everywhere I can, had to pick up a second battery because I always run out of juice before I’m done having fun. I was pretty surprised at how fast it goes, but I’m definitely a fan of it.

Drone #2

Picked this one up from a friend. It flies pretty well, takes good videos, and comes with me when I need more flight time.

The Fallen

This page is dedicated to all the cameras I owned previously, lost to upgrades, or that died doing what they loved.

Jazz Cam

The very first camera I ever owned. As a kid, I remember filming cringey YouTube videos on it with my friends. It had a brief stint as my “action camera” for dangerous videos, usually involving fire, because it really didn’t matter if it got burned, but then I got a drone, so I retired this camera once and for all. Rest in peace. Sidenote: This filmed in a crisp, sharp 720p with a sensor that had a blistering 5.0 MP. I remember my first smartphone having that high of a resolution. Still, middle school me thought that was the shit. I still fondly remember using the flashlight to expose some special effects in the haunted house at Disneyland. Fun times.

Olympus SP-570UZ

The first “actual camera” I owned. Formerly my mother’s, once she upgraded I used this, until later on. Still loved the insane zoom on it, but I like having more than 10 megapixels.

Sony Alpha NEX-6

My next hand-me-down, this Nex-6 had the dreaded “shutter error”. Small magnets inside it would lose alignment, causing the shutter to malfunction. Solution? Whack it very hard. Made my photography teacher cringe every time. My mother, not knowing about this fix at the time, went on to a new camera, while I just started hitting it against any solid surface I could find. Now it acts as a battery charger for my a6000.

Pixel 2 XL

Well, it happened. I actually went through another phone between posting this and moving it down here. The power button fell out of the phone. Other than that, it still worked fine. Solid phone.
